Epoxy Flooring
The reason DuraFloor’s epoxy flooring and urethane flooring treatments are applied to concrete flooring on residential flooring, commercial flooring, and industrial flooring is simple: Protect the substrate, prevent chemical damage to the epoxy flooring, maintain an ergonomically safe environment, and enhance the aesthetic value of the flooring.
If you are contemplating the use of DuraFloor epoxy flooring and/or Urethane finish system, here are two basic facts:
The epoxy flooring is applied in thick coatings to the concrete flooring, cures to a high compressive strength, but is not susceptible to micro scratches, thereby the epoxy flooring tends to loose its sheen over a relatively short period of time. Epoxy floorings have low resistance to UV damage, and if exposed the flooring continuously, the epoxy flooring could possibly opaque or yellow.
Urethanes are applied to the flooring thinly, dry to a very tough finish, and are extremely resistant to chemical attacks, micro scratches, and Ultra Violet rays The CRN Institute teaches applicators to always apply a clear urethane top coat over an epoxy application. Why? Our epoxy flooring jobs look better and last far longer then other epoxy flooring jobs. The greatest strength of Epoxy Flooring and Urethanes is also their greatest weakness: they lack breath ability. This makes the applied products highly susceptible to hydrostatic (moisture vapor) failure. From the positive side of a covered area (the top), the protection can be absolute. From the negative side (the bottom) of a covered area, the story is different. Adhesion to the substrate from an Epoxy or Urethane product is based on a clean, dry, and etched surface. Once that surface becomes corrupted by moisture, it slowly but surely creates a pressurized vessel, and loosens the non-breathable coating. The intense competition for this very lucrative market creates complex solutions to this common problem. DuraFloor’s exclusive concrete flooring refinishing with epoxy program answers moisture based failures with simple solutions. We experienced many of the known problematic moisture related issues to concrete flooring refinishing, and found affordable and easily replicable solutions to epoxy flooring.
We feature epoxy flooring products as well as epoxy flooring which have been used on thousands of square feet of flooring with excellent results. We use various aggregates such as epoxy, latex paint chips, quartz crystal, and proprietary blends of high impact resistant compounds, which are mixed within a base of selected epoxy, and then finished with our selected urethanes.
Based on our experience and success rate, we are confident that our concrete refinishing using epoxy flooring, will continue to provide both applicators and consumers the desired results and longevity with their refinished concrete flooring.
