Epoxy Flooring Los Angeles

You can give your outdoor or garage concrete a showroom look, with minimal mess and expense by using epoxy concrete flooring. Epoxy concrete flooring coatings are not new; on the contrary, they have been used for years on industrial and public flooring because of their toughness, durability, and resistance to oil, grease, as well as most other chemicals that have a tendency to ruin regular concrete flooring. That is why many mechanic's shops, auto dealerships, school gymnasiums, industrial parks, and grocery stores choose epoxy concrete flooring in their stores and places of business. In the past few years, however, it has become a growing trend for homeowners to use epoxy concrete flooring throughout their entire home, both indoors and out.

Epoxy concrete flooring is a great idea for garage flooring, patio flooring, sun and pool deck flooring as well as basement flooring to cover dull, gray concrete flooring and give you attractive, easy to clean epoxy concrete flooring. Using epoxy concrete flooring in your garage or automotive center prevents stains from spills and leaky automobiles and careless mechanic staff as well as helps maintain a strong concrete flooring surface. Using epoxy concrete flooring greatly reduces the need for floor repairs down the road caused by salts, oils, and chemicals from automotive work, automobiles, pool chemicals or other chemicals that have a tendency to chew up concrete. The benefits of epoxy concrete flooring include, but are not limited to, strong adhesion, durability, rustproof, waterproof, heat resistant (no hot-tire pick up), salt and acid resistance, reduced maintenance costs, and completely non-toxic when dry. The biggest advantage of epoxy concrete flooring is that it's become relatively inexpensive for your typical homeowners and an ideal project for the handy do-it-yourself enthusiast.

In many cases it can be done for a few hundred dollars or less, depending on the size of the concrete flooring and the type of epoxy. There are basically three types of epoxies: 100% solids, solvent-based, and water-based. The 100% solid type of epoxy is the strongest, most expensive, and most toxic and should only be handled by professionals. The solvent-based epoxy materials aren't as strong, but are usually reserved for industrial use. They contain 40-60% solids. The solvents are also very toxic. Do be sure to take proper precautions such as, good ventilation, safety goggles, gloves, and a disposable coverall type of jumpsuit, and a respirator if you choose to use solvent-based when resurfacing with epoxy concrete flooring. The cheapest type is the water-based epoxy materials. They are not as durable as the solvent-based epoxy but are strong enough for residential use and much more user friendly with no hazardous fumes and ideal for the nonprofessional installing epoxy concrete flooring. Water-based epoxies can be found at most home improvement stores.

Epoxy materials also come in a variety of colors and some manufacturers even offer computerized color matching. You can also throw blended chips on top of the wet paint for a not-so-plain look on your new epoxy concrete flooring! Pizzazz! When shopping for epoxy concrete flooring materials, you will find that most brands claim epoxy concrete flooring materials are good for exterior use also. If you decide to use epoxy concrete flooring materials, the most important key to a long lasting finish is surface preparation, surface preparation, and surface preparation.
