Article in Concrete Coatings with Step by Step Process

As long as you understand the process associated with the art of concrete resurfacing, it can be quite easy to do by yourself, or inexpensive to hire someone to do it for you. The following is a brief run down on the steps involved. The process is a little more involved than what is detailed below, so consider the following a brief primer rather than comprehensive instructions. The process may also be different depending on what products you end up using. Make sure to do thorough research when it comes to choosing your materials before you begin your project. Using cheap, low-quality products will drastically affect the quality of the finished product.

Step One: In preparing the surface for concrete coating, you will want to power wash the entire surface.

Step Two: The second step involves crack repair, and you should begin by priming all cracks in the concrete.

Step Three: Another step in the crack repairing process, you should begin coating all of the cracks in the concrete with crack repair material.

Step Four: The third step in the crack repairing process involves reinforcing the cracks and problems with fabric.

Step Five: The fourth step in the process of repairing cracks has to do with applying elastomeric base coat over the reinforcing fabric.

Step Six: After applying the elastomeric base coat over the reinforcing fabric, you will want to patch over the fabric with a polymer concrete coating. At this point, all of the cracks and holes in the concrete should be repaired and the concrete should be fairly smooth and free of imperfections.

Step Seven: Next, you will want to grind the polymer concrete in order to smooth it with the surrounding concrete surfaces.

Step Eight: After repairing cracks in the concrete, you will want to repair holes by filling them with a concrete mortar.

Step Nine: Once the concrete surface is repaired properly you will want to apply prime coat and a granule broadcast.

Step Ten: Apply the texture coat by mixing and spraying the polymer concrete coating with a hopper gun. Make sure that the texture coat is even, and allow it time to dry before going over it with the trowel.

Step Eleven: To finish the textured concrete coating you will want to trowel over the coating and apply After-Ultra Surface Polymer concrete texture coating, and trowel once more to finish.

Step Twelve: Apply Seal coat Concrete Coating finally, and allow a 48-72 hour sealing time before allowing vehicles onto the surface.
